Projects
Labyrinth of Egypt The Mataha-Foundation supports and promotes ongoing research into the labyrinth of Egypt at Hawara. This colossal temple, a legendary building lost for two millenia under the ancient sands of Egypt, was described by many classical authors such as Herodotus and Strabo as containing 3000 rooms full of hieroglyphs and paintings. In 2008, an expedition team coordinated by Louis De Cordier, the founder of the Mataha Foundation, scanned the sands of Hawara. Although ground-scanning techniques have been used by archaeologists for years, the Mataha expedition was the first to apply this technology at Hawara, to solve the enigma originating in the Renaissance. SOL To fulfill its mission, the Mataha Foundation started to realize SOL, a continuously staffed library in the high mountains. The SOL research facility will preserve backups/copies of scientific and cultural achievements important to mankind. SOL will aim to safeguard important world culture and literature from future natural and unnatural calamities. In the event of a global crisis, the SOL station will be prepared to reintroduce lost knowledge, and even help to re-establish society again. Golden Sun Disk
The Golden Sun Disk is a timepiece designed by Louis De Cordier. The “golden record” incorporates sacred geometry, earth sciences and astronomy. An archaeological artifact of the future, the Golden Sun Disk is an expression of combined artistic and technological creation, and a human-scale symbol for contemplation that can be held in the hands.
Legacy One way of helping charities do what they do best is by including them in your will. To leave a bequest to a charity, all you normally have to do is add a codicil to your will. Such an addition is less expensive than changing an entire will. By leaving a gift, of any amount, you could help ensure that the foundation continues its important philanthropic work. Also, since charitable gifts are often tax-free, a legacy to the Mataha Foundation could reduce your family’s inheritance tax bill. Should you wish to explore the possibility of leaving a gift to the Mataha Foundation in your will, please contact us.
